I am a tree.
Alone I stand with outstretched limb,
whorling leaves and fragile stem,
no hawk or dove may haunt my breast
amid deep roots in mystic quest,
vast ordered forces,
night's cruel fate,
of the woodsman,
I now wait,
Fingers bleeding,
in pain pleading,
as comes death's call;
in final fall.
Fear no more honed axe's thrust,
Mourn no more,
from dust to dust.
Forth the muck of earthly mire,
burns the rage of funeral pyre.
Ashes lay upon the ground,
No longer seeking what's not found,
For no longer stands the tree.

Hey this is magical! Very very well done! I don't know why more people don't post poems done from that aspect. I just posted one here yesterday called King Pine wood. I think there is a lot of creative room there.

Mike,

vast ordered forces,
night's cruel fate,
of the woodsman,
I now wait,
Fingers bleeding,
in pain pleading,
as comes death's call;
in final fall.

wow, that was dark and beautiful. I love trees there is something magical about them that I think you have captured perfectly here. wondeful poem.

Forth the muck of earthly mire,
burns the rage of funeral pyre.
Ashes lay upon the ground,
No longer seeking what's not found,
For no longer stands the tree.

Mike, this piece is beautiful, a tale tragically told. And no fear, dear poet, as you will ever remain The Mighty Oak of poetry.

as a nature lover and gardner I love this, as a poet I treasure the meaning you put into the words.

Mike,  Stately, elegant, and oh so final.
Beautifully worded, I enjoyed every line.
Will keep an eye out for your other poems.

Mike, you never cease to astound me. I adore your poetry and am at once jealous and sublimely happy that you can write like this.

I wasn't quite expecting the responses I got, which I truly appreciate.  This was truly a midnight musing, was flipping through channels late at night and this just kind of came out.  Thank you all so much for your gracious comments.
