King pinewood brimmed a rocky crag
no finer crown against the sky,
the sun that lit the weathered jag
pronounced his lofty size.

Handsome and tall he stood
grand ruler of the slope.
A soverign lofty scented wood
of anchient kindred pulp.

The clouds rolled in the wind did blow
no sign of warming cheer.
King Pinewood's roots upon the stone
held firm and never veered.

His blessed offshoots drooped with snow
and ice clung to his roots.
Proud monarch maintained his pose
never failing to salute.

Then one solemn frozen day
upon his trunk a shadow grew
a motored spinning toothy blade
rose up to run him through.

With coarse, snapping, grateing sounds
proud sultan down he came.
His throne usurped he smashed the ground
his breaking cries in vain.

With stately mast and branches strewn
down over pithy rocks
Old KIng Pinewood's time came due
to serve a lesser god.
