Do not touch me gently as you leave me standing here
I cannot cling to gentleness that soon will disappear
Don’t lay words of tender wish upon my longing eyes
The tenderness will vanish as the stars in morning skies

So delicate is love, just as a butterfly’s winged grace
The iridescence once disturbed can never be replaced

Don’t speak to me of promises, a promise is a word
I’ve heard more beauteous anthems in the trilling of a bird
Don’t speak to me of passion and of needing and of want
For these are masks that hide to purest liquid of the font

The lily petal waits the warming touch of morning sun
In trust it knows tomorrow its caress again will come

Admire the beauty of the self ,before the beautiful
Select the chalice for it’s strength before the cup is full
Speak of truth, not promises, of purest love unsung
And watch the lily open to the faithful morning sun

Then kiss my lips with tenderness, embrace with warm caress
And lay me gently in the softness of your passion nest
For that which is exquisite is the greatest gift on earth
But only if first recognized its true intrinsic worth

Liz, it's beautiful.  Don't tell me you love me, show me you do. I really like this one!
