Us

Embrace me still, hold fast my love despite,
These perilous, uncertain, daunting days.
With strength of unity will love requite
The lurking evils thick along the way.
Malevolence so armed with empty threats
And rooted in a bed of hollow lies,
Is destined to a life of long regrets,
As bonded hope each onslaught so defies.
Impervious to undeserved attacks
Against this fiendish foe stalwart we’ll stand
And watch as truth and purity exact
The due that such committed love demands.

No fear, no tainted guilt nor false remorse
Will stay our passion's unrelenting course.

WOOOHOOO!  I just LOVE a good sonnet ...

... and this one is indeed "good," if that simple word does it justice.  Your theme was well-developed and held throughout, and the couplet an impeccable finish.

"The lurking evils thick along the way"

(shudder -- great line!)

"And watch as truth and purity exact
The due that such committed love demands."

Sheer eloquence! I stand agog -- well, not really, but it was darn good ...

More, more!

me thinks when you talk on the phone...
you talk in sonnet meter and time...
me thinks you talk sonnet in your sleep too
exceptional D2 ...your vocabulary choices in this make the poem even more graceful and effective

Well, this is passable, I guess, but can you write one in Italian??  (Kidding.)

Bravissimo!  Molto bello!
