How can we be as one
When you hide yourself from me?
The bond is slowly breaking
But you are too blind to see

Was I asking too much
All your feelings to share?
Are you withholding them all
Or are they just plain not there?

Our needs are so different
Can't even find common ground
I tried to explain it
You did not hear a sound

You are deaf to my needs
Just don't seem to understand
And the reason I'm leaving
I don't believe you ever can

How can we be happy
When we are living a lie?
I do not fault or blame you
But I have to say good-bye

Somewhere out there is one
That was made to be with me
When we get together
We will unite perfectly

I've been thinking along the same lines lately...I think sometimes we get close to soomeone and perhaps we would have been better off to remain only friends...the commitment is not really there for anything more.  "We will unite perfectly."  I don't know exactly what this entails but I believe that I will be accepted and appreciated, our personalities and beliefs will be a good fit.  James

Hi Sea,
That was sad but you showed strength. Sometimes we can sacrifice something to strike a common ground and it should be mutual. If its impossible its very difficult to carry on with a relationship and finally nothing seems to be in place..just wait for it may find you..

Sea~ Wonderful insight to know that the time has come for goodbye...while others simply keep living it because it's easier than change.  A very deep subject and thought, one that most of us have to walk with at some point in our lives...but which path we take remains to be seen.  Good luck in your walk...thank you for sharing this.

Sheesh, you knew just what to write about, huh?    This is really enlightening, and I even gained some insight from the wonderful replies too!  *sigh*  It's a shame there's a whole group of us out there in this same predicament.  Someone said something though that hit me right in the heart.  We do tend to stay where we are, because it's so much easier than change.  *sigh again*  I've been guilty of that.  Thank you so much for this...it has really helped.  Much love, Gen

Wonderful expression and flow within the poem Sea!  What seems to start as common ground sometimes is not enough to hold us together ... beautifully expressed!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Hi sea-of-okc,

WOW you are in my head this morning infact these thoughts pleage me every day, I wonder just how distant two can get living in the same space. I am always told try, fight for it, you don't know what your loosing until its gone, ect. but the sad truth is that I will not be loosing anything because there is nothing there. You get very trierd of being the only one giving out the love. Thank you for sharing this.

Love,  Cerenity

James - yes sometimes we do that out of loneliness or whatever. "unite perfectly" to me is finding someone whose needs and desires in a relationship are the same as yours, when two people love each other equally amazing things can happen

AL - true compromising is the 1st thing one should try but when you are so different sometimes that middle ground is just too distant from either of you to work

Julie - thank you, there are many many people in this situation, you are never alone   hope things work out for you

Femme - I stayed for YEARS b/c it was easier (so I thought at the time) than leaving...
In retrospect I shoulda left long before

JM - Yes, I know you know and I know too. But I will never again know because if and when I commit again it will be clear up front what my needs and expectations are and i refuse to ever again "settle" for 'close enough'.

Nan - It is unfortunate that so many of us relate to this    And thank you it is nice to be back and see you and my other friends (family) as well

Kit - thank you

Cerenity - Well I hope everything turns out okay. It is so sad to me that 'givers' seem to always end up with 'takers'... I think it is b/c those of us who are 'givers' are not as aggressive in our pursuit of another so the 'takers' (who seem to always be on the prowl for a 'giver' to 'use up') snatch us up before we can find one another    Mostly our own fault for allowing it. Now get two 'givers' together... that is something I want very much to experience

Sea_of_okc~ Well, from one SEA to another, I can so relate.... it's ironic that so many of us here understand these feelings.....

* here is a little one I wrote while going through it*

Lonely tears
fall from my eyes
I thought I could
but I can't disguise

Hide the pain
and hurt that I feel
I'm still hoping
your love is real

I can't help to wonder
where your love lies
'cause I can't see it
in your eyes.

I hope your heart heals soon.... It's really hard to leave but you will find the "right" one.   -SEA

There is always someone out there. Just don't push I always say, just let it happen. Lots of strength in this poem. Words that need to be said......

Sea,

This was great.  I can almost see your thought process here.  It is always hard to make such a decision and actually see it through.  I hope that all works out for you.  Wonderful writing.
