I woke up this morning
longing
heart aching from need
for days long ago
and not so long ago
when we used to sit
in the wakening sun
on a clear summer morn
and dream

about you
about me
about us

the fresh scent of melting pitch
filtering through the trees
to assault our senses
and to this day
the pine reminds me of those barefoot days
where the sun whispered over our toes
to crawl slowly up our legs
and bathe us in warmth

coffee
so hot in our cups
sipped gently
to take the aroma in

god I miss those days
of mental respite
the days when we laughed away trouble
and forgot to speak
in our gentle companionship
the days when I didn't have to
think so hard
about the future
about you
about me
about us

when life was so much less
and so much more

"Our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything."
--William Shakespeare

Wow X angle, a vivid beautiful and sad recount of a lost love. Excellently written, especially when read aloud.

"To be nobody-but-yourself-in a world which is doing its best night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting."

E.E Cummings.

"Culture Alienation Borebom and Despair"

"I know I believe in nothing but it is my nothing" -faster MSP

"And you see, I kind of shiver to conformity
Did you see, the way I cower to authority, you see
And my life, it's a series of compromises anyway
It's a sham, and I'm conditioned to accept it all, you see" six by Paul Draper.

Aw, you sentimental ole moderator, you!   This is beautiful, Heather. I think we all share those feelings at one time or another. Johnny Mathis said it best........

I miss the hungry years
The once upon a times
Those lovely long agos
When we didn't have a dime
Those days of me and you
We lost along the way......

tx guys
I was missing having a *HOME* most of all, funny thing was....the very night I wrote that poem, I found a beautiful home to buy. And it has room for my business in it too. It's a big, old, false front mercantile building from 1888. *sigh*
Sometimes dreams do come true...we should be moving in less than two weeks...weird eh!?

WOW XAngel, I could smell the tress, feel the sun, smell the rich coffee.
This is great! *SIGH* I found my self doing that a lot too!
Thanks for making me smile today!

And Congratulations on your new home.
It sounds beautiful, almost as beautiful as your memories you've posted here.
