The Mask

We wear the mask
of saints while committing grievous
sins and then doing nothing to save our
selves we wonder why the state we’re
in preaching the ideals of glory
then backing down
when our bluff is
called promising friends to
give our help standing idle when
they begin to fall..... a single death is
a tragedy the rest are simply statistic
we claw our way in to the life raft
whilst the drowning masses go
empty after... all we in fact
are the great ominous
majority who voice
first our statistics
coupled with
our opinions
so you know it
is not us to blame you
just keep your eyes on us when
the future melts to a mystique chronic
music of a falling out & the descent of
radio-active debris while the white
rain settles on a mutated
living.

If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name. (Michelle A. Bartley)

a very powerful poem on the sins, hyprocrisies and excesses of mankind.

Brian,

Many thanks... it comes from to much TV in my youth maybe... of course today is not much different.

Spitfire,

Thanks for the reply, there's not many people who care to read things as such. It's easy to fix "kids" problems... quite another story when it come to adults, as bboog would say... huh..!

JulieAnn,

Caught your heart... thank you.

Serenity,

Thank you so much... by the way is it okay to say how sometimes you remind me of RJ... in that your a puzzle. Is that something that females do..? Or am I in an empty ball park wanderin'..?

lucky,

This is a great portrayal of man's hypocritical attitude...

Nice work.

Regards, sudhir

My heart is pounding, my stomach's inside out
I'm feeling kind-a-shaky, my mind is full of doubt
All I ever think about, is fearing fear itself,
Wish I could unscrew my head and put it on the shelf
Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight,
Don't know what I'm looking at, the lights are all too bright
My brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor
Sweep 'em up. Throw 'em away, don't want 'em anymore
Clouds race across the sky, day turns into night,
Still there are the questions, no answers in sight
Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight,
Starin' out the window, everything is just too bright
Brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor,
Wish I could unscrew my head, and kick it out the door...
You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange
You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange

Sudhir,

Interesting bias attitude as to what direction things are coming from... I actually meant it to be quite open especially for the feminine, relating to women and characterized by and possessing qualities generally attributed to women... but your views are respected. It could be many men have bias hypocritical attitudes...

I Thank you, I think..?

"a single death is

What can I say, when you've said it all so well Lucky?  All too true and expressed beautifully.  It's a difficult subject this, but one that deserves attention. You've done this well!

Best wishes,
/Kit
