THE STORY

Sir Sven, Brave Knight of Romance, from afar watches the fray
The others entreat him to enter, but he cannot by light of day
For the lady he champions will not arrive until the coming of the night
She will arrive, and her very presence will be brighter than the moonlight

In a carriage driven by Shadow and drawn by four horses of Perfect Dark
She arrives with the fading of the sunlight and take her place in the park
On his horse Midnight he rides up to her station to make his pledge
Dismounts, his armour glistening, he draws his sword, her face reflected on the edge

He holds his blade above his head, placing the tip o'er his heart
Bowing down to one knee, moon on the rise, his pledge he now starts
By the light of the torches, he has made this pledge many times before
But this time, here at this joust, he hopes to reach her heart's door.

THE PLEDGE

My Lady of the Night
To your heart I pledge my life
To your life I pledge my heart
And in thy name I dedicate my art

Gentle Lady of the Moon
To thy heart I sing this tune
For thy life I would give my own
This is the depth of the love I now show

Will thy love be mine
Tender lady whose love doth shine?
All I have to offer is myself
I have not lands, and I have not wealth

My Lady of Romance
Take my hand in love's dance
For thy honor I fight this very night
May my words bring glory to thy light

THE STORY

His pledge made, the Brave Knight of Romance joins the fray
For the glory of his Lady, nothing at all shall stand in his way
He fought bravely for her, for her glory and for her honor
Should he emerge victorious, he would indeed lavish much upon her

He fought them all bravely, Knights gathered from near and far
Fought bravely under her banner, with the mighty power of her star
When the end came into his eyes with the sun at the dawn
He looked around him, sword in hand, to see that she had gone

In the distance, he heard her voice, singing so sweet and clear
"Thou art indeed my bravest Knight, the one I hold most dear"
It was then that he saw her face, he had ne'er seen a more beautiful sight
He knew then in his heart that she would be his, his Lady of the Night

Oh this knight, my heart did touch--
beneath the moon I sing--
her glory now is on the wax-
what should this have to do with me?

But gentle words I fold to heart,
simple be my pleasures sworn-
enraptured by each wrap of night,
embracing every star that's born...

A choice?  I think
the answer mild--
ask mother
to choose favorite child.

The only answer
is, my friend...
I choose, as mine,
ALL OF THEM...

Congratulations on your 2000th post (check out the Announcement Forum!). And congratulations on a successful challenge. I know your fair lady could never resist such a pledge as you have made with this poem.

What a grand way to spend your 2000th Post Sven....and in grand style was it done.  Now where do I find my lady of the night....hehe

It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

2000 it is and Sir Sven, a splendid one to boot...

Congratulations, lots of accolades for you Sir...

and many Regards,
Sudhir

My heart is pounding, my stomach's inside out
I'm feeling kind-a-shaky, my mind is full of doubt
All I ever think about, is fearing fear itself,
Wish I could unscrew my head and put it on the shelf
Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight,
Don't know what I'm looking at, the lights are all too bright
My brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor
Sweep 'em up. Throw 'em away, don't want 'em anymore
Clouds race across the sky, day turns into night,
Still there are the questions, no answers in sight
Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight,
Starin' out the window, everything is just too bright
Brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor,
Wish I could unscrew my head, and kick it out the door...
You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange
You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange

Many knights sit at the table of poetic passions but none speak the beauties and elegance of love as Sir Sven of valentine does. He trust his pen in the heat of battle and thus pen a poem of such magic as to awe the enemy and woo the hearts of all the fairest maidens of the land. an excellent response to the challenge, which you have honourable won.

Congrads on your 2000th post.

Congrats on # 2000 Sven
A worthy offering, an interesting tale... but I have always loved the medieval time period.

"Thou art indeed my bravest knight, the one I hold most dear."  Beautiful words for any man to hear.  How did you get Romantic Heart to write part of this poem.  When I read those lines I thought it was her speaking.
Sven you really write beautiful poetry about knights.  May your journeys continue.  James

Sir Sven,

Congratulations on #2000!!!

I think this is a very beautiful story you have told.  I love the way you have broken it up and put a pledge in there.  This is your best work yet my friend.

Excellent writing...

Thank you Knights of Passions, your words will continue to inspire, grace and melt the hearts of maidens everywhere.  And thanks to all the Women of Passions, who every day inspire us to be the best that we can be. . .

Sven, I have three things to say to you!

1} Congratulations on your 2000th post! ~*Irie Clapping hands*~

2} This Challenge was great and your response even better!
I have been away so I have much reading to do!

3} This has to be my favorite piece from you yet! Story, pledge, story.
I love the way you put this together. Most of all this poem is fantastic.
VERY romantic and takes me way way back to the days of Shakespear.
In fact, I think I'll now call you my Shakespearian!
Well, not MINE, but hey, you know what I mean!
In short, I LOVE IT!
