If I could change one thing, what would it be?
Well I would change all the hate
And I would replace it with unity and harmony
I would do it soon before it was too late

I look all around me, and my heart is full of sorrow
People not liking someone cuz they aren't like them
Will it be like this forever, where will it lead tomorrow?
Discrimination rules the universe, hated lies in hearts deep within

Discrimination in my book equals ignornace
Why can't we at least try to get along
Instead we declare war on one another with a vengeance
A world of peace, would that be so wrong

I doubt I'll ever get my wish, but I wish anyway
That people could stop hating and learn to care
Wish that it could start right now, this very day
Maybe one day the hate will stop, and our hearts we'll learn to share.

~This is what I'd like to change about the world~

Because once you're there
It's up to you to make it happen."

~Oh Amy,....this is one of the things that I would wish for too.  You've penned it well.  Lots of feeling flowing from the text.  Perhaps I'll get around to this challenge as well. Thanks for the effort and with such great success.  *Bravo*. Take care.

Aimster, I had similar thoughts when writing a response to this challenge. It scares me that the face of humanity is often a death mask when it could so easily be that a new born child, pure and innocent.

A wonderful poem, I hope that your wish does come true as does countless others ( silent majority). excellent response to the challenge.

If only, Amy, if only....if we could change what you think should be changed, the world would be a much better place than it is now. You express your desire beautifully.

Love and hugs,

Beautiful wish girl...unfortunately, most people don't WANT to love one another.  I think some people thrive on hate and nastiness.  They get more pleasure from holding grudges, and disliking someone.  It's a shame really....lovely thoughts you have here nonetheless!

I was thinking about this same topic just a few days ago.
A beautiful wish Amy.  And a poem to do it justice.
