The Crow
From Beginning To Flight

One morn in the chill of spring
air I saw two crows
diligently gathering twigs and
misalliances refuse
that lay waste upon the ground.
Spending every waking
moment fervently working on their
future baby’s abode.

Through the spring after the
hatchling came
they would take turns back and
forth fetching little
morsels of birdie delights to feed
their darling young one.

I would set out special treats and
watch the two proud
parents snatch up my gifts in a
furry and fly off
to their well hidden nest.

Now it’s mid summer the air is
much warmer, I out
tending the garden was delighted
to be blessed with the
baby’s first attempts at flight.

With parents present high in a
tree speaking in what
sounded like urgent pleas to their
now young one to
keep trying for you must fly for this
is the way nature.
intended it to be for you.

The young bird would try with
all of his might to lift
himself up and fly a few feet
but then clumsily
fall back to the ground and then
start his crying pleas
for help.

But in no time at all at his parents
urging he finally took
flight, not so perfect but in trying
he now resides among
the trees as nature intended for him.

I having been blessed to witness
from beginning to
end this marvelous journey of a
pair of crows to a
beautiful new creation that has
taken his place in
history. I give thanks to our creator
for this is the way it
is suppose to be.

Very pretty imagery Cerenity ... I've had the pleasure of watching many youngsters grow from birth to flight, and each time I am even more amazed. Thank you for this lovely verse.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Brian and Kit

Thank you so much for your kind replys, I have had a wonderful time watching these crows. They have had to fight off this red tailed hawk so many times and owls as well. But this little guy made it and I am pleased, once again thank you so much.

This is lovely - lovely!  We do a lot of crow-watching, our study being upstairs among a great throng of fir trees, and they are birds of such great character - from hilarious, to sadistic, to passionate lovers.  Thank you for sharing the part I have not seen - the babies - the beginning.  Beautiful.
I happen to be very fond of crows - such personalities they have!
