Whatever it is you dream,
I wish I could dream it too.
I envy the nightly visions
that seem to cling to you.

I want to watch your dreams
like a movie on a screen.
I want to learn each part
and find out what they mean.

Each night you go to sleep.
I watch you drift away.
I wish that I could follow,
but I do not know the way.

So I study the sky instead.
The stars have just begun to gleam.
I hear your contended sigh.
I wonder what you dream.

What can I say, The time is 03.39 here in Sweden now, and I can´t sleep...

Your poem describes exactely how I feel right now, and thats pretty impressive I think....

Sleep tight LOL

Spitfire --  Thanks for your kind comments.  I know it well too.

nando --  What I wouldn't give to be one of those who can crawl into bed when they take the notion and drift off to sleep.  It's a constant battle...most of which I lose.  But, hey, I pen my best poetry in the midnight hours.  Thanks for stopping here to read my work.

TennesseeAngel~
I think of it as Musing Time ...
it doesn't make me tired when the
morning comes.
I love the muses that make merry
with their mirth in the midnight hours.
Join me in another cup of coffee ...
and let's just write all night long !
Wonderful thoughts, my friend.

TA I to am the same way I am wide awake at night while the rest of the house is fast asleep. I find though that it's a time I can have my time, of course when morning rolls around i'm a grouch. lol I loved your poem very vivid. Does it ever seem to you when you fall asleep the alarm clock goes off?
Of course then your ready to sleep but no sleep for the weary. Oh well!

What great thoughts you have here, Angel, to be able to creep into one's dreams and go along for the ride. Believe me, if he is any kind ofa man, you ARE there in his dreams!! Good writing

You all are sooo good to me.  Your glowing remarks make my poetic efforts worthwhile.

Marge --  It's good to know that I'm not the only one who drinks coffee and writes all night long.  Sometimes it crosses that line between passion and obsession.

Rosebud --  You know exactly how I feel then.  I finally decide to go to sleep and the alarm rings.  Like tonite, It's after 11:00 and I have to be at work at 6:30 in the morning.  Oh well, better do it now while I'm young and don't need the sleep as much.

Balladeer --  You make me blush with your glowing compliments.  Unfortunately the Him in my poetry is nothing more than a figment of my often over active imagination.  Just imagine what I can write when I have someone real to write about.

Butterflies --  Comments like yours make me believe in my poetry.  Thank you for always having something sweet and supportive to say.  It really means a lot to me.

Wow.   I don't have insomnia, but does waking up in a panic thinking you're late for something count?   Nice poem here. I also like the effect. I love thinking about dreams in any way at all.

Wow, this was great!  Just last night I was watching the face of an angel and my thoughts tread that path your poem detailed... Excellent capture of a moment!

I loved it. I find myself identifing with the poem as I sit in front of the computer,
with the clock flashing 2:00am on the corner of the desk. It is a amzing how easy time melts when you have no reality in it.
