Child of Pain
By Jessica DeMaio

Oh child please don’t cry
Fade the tears
Fade the Pain
Look at your friends; look at your fears
You can overcome
You can win

Oh child please don’t cry
That bruise will fade
That cut will heal
The pain you will not always feel

Strangers cry for my youth
Sinners pray for my health
Friends dream of my pain

Oh child please I will mend your heart
I will dry your tears
I will warm your mind

The time runs out
The pain endures
A part of me is gone
I cry… So long

Oh child please don’t cry
Your smile warms my heart
And your advice puts me to rest

Oh child please lay your head down for sleep
The pain will wash away
There will be another day
And you will no longer weep…
Your secrets I will keep…
Your pain I will mend

Oh child believe me, For I am your friend…

To everyone who has been there for me through the painful days…

Nicely done.  The poem allows some great feelings of comfort.  It puts the mind and body at ease.  It must have done you a lot of good to write it.

Having people there is so important.  I liked how the beginning said:
"You can overcome
You can win"
And the ending was such a good part of this too, knowing people care about you can make you feel great.

There is nothing like having someone there to hold you and wipe away your tears. You describe this wonderfully. Thanks for sharing.

This was great. Tons of emotion expressed within this poem. A wonderful read!
