"When Did I Grow Up"

When did I grow up
Was it when I didn't cry when I scraped my knee
Or when God took you from me

When did I grow up
Was it when I learned life has bumps and is not always fun
When will I grow up
When I fall in love

I've done that so no, I guess not
When did I grow up
Whose's to judge
When I learned the value of money
Or that days arn't always easy and sunny

When I found out there's poor children
And innocent people with no money

When did I grow up
When I learned a president cheats then gets impeached
Or that everyday people lie, steal, and cheat

When did I grow up
When two accidents were tacked onto the novel of my life
When I learned to drive

Or now that I don't always lie
When did I grow up
When I write poetry to get through the obsectles of life

Have I grown up
Will I ever know, does it show
When did I grow up

When I said goodbye to my cat Duffy
Or when a hard time made me smile cause i knew sunshine was on the other side

Oh, I wonder will I ever grow up
Will I ever grow up
I hope so and on that day I guess I'll know

Nice poem.
I don't think we ever stop growing up.  I hope not any how.  I hope I continue to grow with every experience of my life.

This was so great. The message and theme of this poem is so amazing. I'm glad there are kids out there thinking about these sort of things. Very impressive. Good one here!

It's hard to know when we grow up isn't it!  It is something that kinda just happens and we have no control over it!  I love this poem - it speaks the truth!!

Love Melz!!

Wonderful questions Lisa ... and so nicely pondered. Once you begin to ask these questions ... you're already well on your way. I love poems like this that question various aspects of life ... very nicely done!

Best wishes,
/Kit
