His slient prayers echo
through the padded walls
Another day wasted in this
room when he could be in his
own room, in his own house
His parents will never understand
what has happened to him,
shunning him.
Hiding their children from him,
like he is some sort of monster
contamination is what they fear
but he can not help that he is in
a padded room, blocked away to rot
in his sickness
She stops by the door and opens it
he feels a tide of peace envelope him
for not all the world shuns him, hides
away from him
only those with small- narrow minds
His silent prayers echo off the padded
walls and an angel comes to rescue him.

You know while i was reading this i pictured a mentally retarded child. Often a lot of "normal" kids shun and make fun of mentally retarded children. Some of them in the past have actually been sent to places with padded walls and so on. I don't know but for some odd reason this made complete sense to me. I know you didn't mean in to be that way but i pictured it like that.
Great poem!

That's interesting, because I was actually thinking of a mentally handicapped person, but not a child.  Huh.  Anyway, good job with the poem
