The idea of pro life makes me sick
It all comes down to priorities

The life of the unborn nothing
Or the life of the already living, the mother....

These poor women should have the right
The right to choose

A choice that is obvious for rape victoms
for girls in pre teens
for the poor, and the weak
They have gone through enough as it is

So don't force them
Don't force them to screw up their lives

If you are pro life then so be it
But dont push your beleifs down unwanting throats

They can make their own decisions

--------------

Reading over this I realize this might cause some disturbance. But I am posiing it anyway because its what I beleive, and I hold very dear the idea of freedom of choice.

i just responded to a similar topic over in philosophy 101 and i agree.

a woman has the right to choose. if she chooses to kill an unborn baby, then i think that is a choice she must live with. that is a demon she would have to face down every day she looked in the mirror. just as if she were to have the baby. that baby is her constant reminder. i think that since a mother is given responsibility over her child; living, dead, unborn, or whatever, then she too should answer to the consequences (and/or rewards) of her choice.

man, it almost seems like an act of cruelty to bring a child into the world anymore. what a sad place we have to grow up in.

Everyone's got their demons.
We all got somethin' to atone for.

  Call me one of those pro-life freaks...I'm not gonna say anything else but if the world's so terrible to live in, maybe we should stop sitting around waiting for it to get better.... Well, great poem.

Thank you, Lucius! I myself work in a Planned Parenthood clinic...the people that come into the clinic...there's no way to describe them. I've seen girls as young as 11 and 12 come in....I don't think that anyone could argue that their child would have a good life in this world..they would fall into the same traps as their parents, or possibly worse.  And those who argue adoption, I'd like to point out the millions of children who are NEVER adopted, rather, bounce around various childrens homes etc.  Most of our patients are children themselves, they have no concept of how to care for a child.  Furthermore, our clinic does NOT incourage this as a means of birth control so much as a "second chance." The doctors I work w/ have moral objections to performing abortions on women who have already had 2 or more abortions.  Lastly, it all comes down to a woman's choice.  It is her body, her mind, her decision.  If an entity takes that away, it is once again attempting to shackle the female sector of the population. Okay, enough rambling. once again, great poem, great topic, thanks for having the guts to come out w/ your views....it takes strength...I'd like to point out that I've gotten myself jumped on more than one occasion by students in my school who object to where I work.....so, kudos to you lucius! :.)

First of all.....great poem. Really good topic ofcourse.
Second of all, call me old fashioned, but I have to definatly say pro-life. Mothers are not always smart enough or experienced enough to decide for themselves and for unborn children. I don't think an innocent child should die for the sake of his mother's inability to make a right choice. Besides you can have the child and put it out for adoption, but if a men and women are responisble enough to be sexually active shouldn't they be responisble enough to take care of the child they produce? That's something that I totally think is misused in American society. Thanks for your post anyhow.

I know one big argument for the pro life people is that people should be responsible enough to make the right decision, or face the consequences of conception. But think about how many women are raped in north america "Every Day". These women didnt do anything, they are helpless victoms, and alot of them are too young to handle pregnency, and all the things that come with it.
People also say, "They can just have the kid, and put it up for adoption." Well, along side the fact that millions of kids never get adopted, think about the life of a 14 year old. She has a job, does well in school, has a good family life, a boyfriend perhaps....then bang she gets raped, or by some other means, gets pregnent. Think about the next 9 months of her life. To a 14 year old, that can wreck her morale. They arent ready to go through having birth at that age.....and they shouldnt have to.
Whoa I rambled there quite a bit.
Anyways thanks for your thoughts and ideas about the subject.

I really admire you for taking the opportunity to voice your opinion and to share where u stand in your beliefs. Personally, my beliefs on this subject are in complete agreement with yours. I personally would never have an abortion, but at the same time I do not feel it is my place to tell anyone else not to. There may be circumstances unbeknownst to me and unimaginable to me, so what gives me the right to condemn someone who's beliefs may not hold them to the same principles that mine do? I am not belittling those who are pro-life - I admire that greatly too. I only have a problem when people take their beliefs to a level of preaching and lecturing rather than sharing and discussing.
Anyways, thanks for posting this

Right now I wouldn't put myself in a group as pro-life or pro-choice.  I'm pro-nocommenting-on-subjects-where-people-might-hate-me   I think abortion is wrong, but I haven't really decided who should make this decision, the mother, the mother and father, or the government???

Wow. Quite controversial, but I happen to agree with you. My religion is completely, 100% Pro-life, but I believe that a woman has the right to choose, point blank. If our government thinks that they can't do that, then what is the point to a democracy? What is the point of our American, God-given freedoms? It just wouldn't be right.  Anyway, I could go on, and go all crazy on the fact that women should have that right. Ok, enough of my preaching, good work on this piece.

Me= Me
Religion= Pro life
Morals= Pro life
Beliefs upon others= Pro choice

If it were my child= Pro life
If it were anothers= Pro life
If that other person wanted to abort= Pro choice.

So yea.......simple...and straight to the point!

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.
