Standing Next to Sorrow:

The pigeons fly as a man stares off into his introspective.
He worries about his daughter, who in time will go through a complex heart surgery.
Wondering what will come in the aftermath.
Tearing apart with thoughts of death.
Tears drip from his eyes of love and sadness.
He mumbles phrases to God in hope and in sorrow.
I pray the best for this man and his daughter.
His soul must be strong, and his mind sturdy.
We all lay on the boundary of death, a little closer than we think.

So, as I stand next to this man,
I think that one day it will be me in his place.
May the pigeons fly, the mans daughter live,
And may I continue to lay in everlasting thought to my surroundings.
Cheers to life and death.
You both come hand in hand.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

About this being a true story, yes. I wrote this while in the hospitol awaiting for my own little heart to be checked on. I have ataki cardia bla bla bla bla...had to stop playing the sport i loved, football. I was quite good too. Captain of the team, 3 championships undefeated, 2 time allstar, 3 time MVP....i mean c'mon!!!!!! haha and yea the old ticker got the best of me. Yea but anyway, the poem was me just lookin at this father and got me inspired to write. I knew his story cuz my mom told me cuz she talked to his wife. Oh well, i sympathized
