9 Sept 00
Before I type this out, I just want to say I was sitting up in my room earlier this morning like around midnight and ha I didn't turn into a pumpkin but seriously I was just thinking and crying and staring into a little mirror that I had and I started reassuring myself and this is what this poem is..a reassurance...and it's taken me 19 years to finally realize what I did this morning and 19 years to write what I'm about to write..

How do you expect for others to love you
When you don't love yourself
It's not the hair
It's not the face
It's the soul that matters

Just take a long look in the mirror
And dig deep down inside
There will be all the answers you seek to find
Soul searching is really what you need
Not anothers touch to help you proceed

Yet don't get me wrong
We all deserve the best
Yet only when we pass god's test
And to do that
You just only need to believe in yourself
Then you will be able to perceive to the best of your judgement
And then your soul would no longer suffer from abandonment...

Wow, this is so cool!  Congrats on finding yourself for who you are, not how others want you to be. I liked the poem a lot, it uses emotion very well.  great job

This is the same thing I tell my boyfriend sometimes when he gets into his "moods"...I am happy to here that you have found yourself...Keep up the good work!!!

And it was actually what you wrote as the title that caught my eye!!!

Yup, that’s true…

Too bad there aren’t more people like you.  But maybe if they read this?  Who knows?

great poem! we should all try to find our true selves.

Now night arrives with her purple legions
Retire now to your tents & to your dreams
Tomorrow we enter the town of my birth
I want to be ready. - JM

Im wondering....cuz everybody is interpreting this as if you found your true self. I, for some reason, view this to be more of a "point-you-in-the-right-direction" sort of thing. I mean, i'm 17 and i'm completely lost. I dont pretend everything is peachy keen and all cuz its not. We're all lost within our selves OR we just have a false fantasia of what is but in reality isn't. I don't know. I liked the poem though, very good and i'm happy you had the realization of internal gratification.

adios!

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.
