Hay tanta jente que
pasan hambre
que no pueden trabajar,
que suffren en mi pais
por las barbaridades del jefe

Cuando pasan la jente del committé
so dicen

¡Viva Fidel camara!

I definatly can tell you that my two years of Spanish are not helping me out at all. I am recognizing some words though, trabajar (work) muerte (death???)and the small stuff. Please try and post the translation. I wish I could do this though, write poetry in my native language, but I don't know the language very well. I can speak it but writing and reading skills are what I lack. Good job and wonderful work just for being able to do this!

Well, I guess im the only one who understood it! MWHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! You know what jose? You'd be surprised at how many people think like you here in PR. God i can't get enough of it. I can't go out of my house without seeing a flag. Who am I to complain?! I wear one on my neck! But anyway, patriotism is well needed in this room. To be as frank as possible, a lot of american people do not have this feeling towards their country. Keep it up!

adios!

Dopey~ that's not exactly what I meant, the phrase "patria o la muerte" has a second, heavier, more political meaning.

There's so many people
that feel hunger
that can't work
that suffer in my country
beccause of the atrocities of the leader

when the party members come around
they only say

¡Patriotism or Death*!
!Viva Fidel comrade!

* "patriotism or death" is the current official slogan of the Cuban Communist Party.
To say it publicly implies that one is willing to give his live for the "communist cause"

Hmmm, I was really hoping that someone would read this after I posted the translation.

Well, now someone has.  The only thing I don't like about this poem is that I know poems lose something in their translations, and I wish I had learned more Spanish   Well, I guess that's not really about the poem, it's about me not learning other languages.  But anyway, great job, I love all of these that are written in other languages (even though I need translations )
