**Just a quick note to say this is probably one of the most personal ones I'll write. Please be considerate in what you respond**

"Parents"
Nonsense surrounds my ears,
I know things to be true;
as much as it hurts
there is nothing I can do,
for the decision is theirs,
and my opinion is trash;
maybe if they didn't want to hear me
they shouldn't have so many questions to ask.
Each time we argue
I remind them of their mistake;
they didn't have to keep me,
they could of had an abortion-
and taken a break.
But they kept me,
not aware of what was to come,
or that I'd be more than they'd bargained for
once my life had begun.
I apologize each time
for the pain I had caused;
if only they had known,
my life would be their loss.
No death had followed,
instead a problem much worse;
blood infections and chronic colds,
nights spent helplessly is what must have hurt
for if only they had known
I would be this sick,
they would not have kept me,
instead they'd of gotten rid of me-
lickity split.
So I can't blame them
for all the things they say
yet I can do nothing for them
but stay out of their way.
An accident,
that's who and all I am,
yet the problem is know my own
and I must deal with it the best I can.
If only they had a warning
at all the trouble my health would be,
they could have chosen wisely
and gotten rid of me.

Erin, thank you for your reply. Sadly, this is true, and the only reason I call myself an accident is because that's also true. My mother was not expecting to get pregnant, and things go on with the fact my grandmother had always asked my mother that if she knew she would have a baby with health problems not to have the child. Unfortunately, my own problems were not noticed until after I was born.

kittie~~~with the health problems maybe your mom didnt care. maybe instead of saying im gonna have an abortion im gonna have an abortion i will just have the baby. and you know what you were made the way you were for a reason. maybe you mom looked past all that and realized she has a little person to take care of. instead of saying oh shes not worth the trouble. you know what i mean??? if i got you lost im sorry cause i got myself lost a little bit.

Your hurt and pain are expressed powerfully in these words Kittie.  I don't know if it will surprise you to know that I too was an "accident". As a matter of fact, so was my older sister. She had a really hard time coming to terms with that, however I've taken a different approach. I think there are "no" accidents in life. What is meant to be, is meant to be for a reason.

Kittie, I too have had many health problems, many operations, and given more than my share of anquish to my parents through my teen years, but you know what?  I'm almost 40 now, and I wouldn't change a thing, and neither would they. We've actually talked about this. Some years were difficult for all of us, and sometimes words were spoken in anger and feelings were hurt on both sides.

Sometimes, it just takes a few more years down the road, to grow to appreciate all we have and have meant to each other, and to realize just how fortunate each one of us has been through the good ... and the bad.

Take care Kittie ... I do understand ...
Best wishes,
/Kit

Kittie...i have to say this is one of the  most touching poems i've read in my entire life, it was extremely sad and brought tears to my eyes. You actually feeling this way saddens me more, no one is a mistake regardless of what people say or how u feel. Your here for a reason. The poem was excellent!

Kittie...First off, I have to agree with the others, there are no accidents in life.  Everything happens for a reason.

It was a great poem.  You expressed your feelings so well that you actually brought tears to my eyes.  Very touching poem, keep up the good work.  Just remember, everything will work out for the best in the end.
