I gaze at the pages,
deeply interested
by the contents laid before me
Circling or staring
the products that I like
and not for a single moment
thinking that I won't get it
"Maybe someday,"
I say optimisticly
But it bothers me to know
that all the pretty girls at school
are likely to have these outfits
I wear confidence like a dress,
I just wish I had
the shoes to go with it

I loved this. It struck a chord with me, I don't know what, it just has this "thing" that makes me like it. Thanks for sharing, and keep writing.

Jen ~ lol...thanks for the offer hun but I think mine are good enough for me

Erin ~ Thanks for your input...and I know whatcha mean...girls like that come a dime a dozen where I live...and I wear a size 8 and as for color..well...my favorite pair of sneakers were bright orange and my favorite heels were plats with silver sequins (I'm not a freak I swear) so that tells you something right there lol...

Thanks again!

lol Erin...we can both be freaks.   I live in Mary-land (I know it's not spelled that way...that's just the way I say it..lol) but we're likely to move to Tennessee within the next year. Where do you live? btw - I have that icq thing if you ever want to talk to me through that.

First off i really don't think what you wear makes a difference.....so those girls with all the expensive clothes could be nice chicks ya know? Just by saying all this that your all saying is generalizing people who slide into the conformity of fashion look as if they were COMPLETELY bad....or "selfish" how this poem states it to be.
Sure SOME are.....but lets not stereotype. If people looked at how i dressed.....they'd think i were this pot smoking, skater. So yea...... but anyway good poem and the ending rocked.

Dopey_Dope...I wasn't saying that the girls with the expensive clothes were selfish or anything like that....in fact no one did. Erin and I agreed on a theoretical opinion but that's all. I meant that I was selfish....I didn't state that any particular clique was seflish through this poem. Thanks anyway. < !signature-->
