The internal struggle,
That is fought throughout time,
Never seems to shut down,
Without tears streaming down your face,

Your insides fight for control,
Over your body and mind,
The gut wrenching feelings you get,
Is just the end of a round,

The shadow that creeps over,
Top of your imagination,
Causes you to think things,
Depressing and sad,

Believing the scrutiny will end,
Is like telling yourself Santa is real.
And delinquent elves make wooden toys,
And deer with glowing noses fly,

The nervous laughter quiets a room,
]And people you want to knpw are there,
They then confirm you are a loser,
Because of your relatives and acquaintances,

Like putting together Mrs. Potato Head,
You get ready for your date,
You put your eyes, lips and nose on,
But they cannot coever the heavy shade of ugliness,

The mask you wear the majority of the time,
Is likely to get old and worn out,
The secret identity you hold dear to you,
Will never come about,

The inadequate, inferior feelings,
That flaot around inside,
Have lost the game of hide and seek,
Becuase they refused to hide,

The eternal struggle for happiness,
Lasts more than a lifetime,
It comes back to haunt and remind those,
Who have forgotten the worst of times,

The disability of sadness,
Can drown you in the black, foggy water,
Where you gasp and shudder for breath,
Hoping and praying the next will be your last.

Great imagery Kimmy, very nicely penned! Welcome to Passions!

I think we all wear masks sometimes, but eventually, we are fortunate to find those friends and family where we are able to drop the masks, and just be comfortable with who we are. In sad times, my friends and family are the shoulders I lean on.

PS...I read your response to Salooma's getting to know you post ... go back and have a peek Kimmy, we're neighbours.

Best wishes,
/Kit
