A thousand words never said
My love not shared enough
I remember your laugh, so warm and pure
Your loss was more than tough

I was only a child that day in March
My mind still growing with wonder
I couldn't accept that you were gone
My life turned a cloud of thunder

I wept those days I saw you weak
Your love was stronger than others
Your life started to fade and slip away
More than a best friend, you were my mother

Your hugs could cure a million frowns
Affection filled your heart
Whenever I was in need of care
You were there, never wanting to part

Your soul will live forever, mom
The pain finally did subside
Although you are in a more beautiful place
You will never leave my mind.

Welcome to Passions!

We are very happy you have decided to join our community of poetry friendship. We look forward to having you share your efforts with us and please keep in mind that we are very supportive of each other. The pleasure you receive from reading comments on your work is the same pleasure others need by receiving your comments on theirs. This is a rule that all poets here follow. We invite you to join the family!

This is an incredibly emotional first post Melissa. You've touched me deeply with this beautiful and heart-felt tribute to your mother. I am grateful to see that some of this difficult pain has receded, and you are able to write about your special bond in such a loving and tender way.

I hope to read more of your poetry and your responses to our wonderful family of poets! (check your e-mail for a special message)

Best wishes and prayers,
/Kit

I expected this poem to be about the loss of a boyfriend but it wasn't. I think this is an incredibly wonderful poem not to mention a first post. I like this poem because it makes you stop and think. Sometimes I don't treat my mother the best and maybe I need to be more careful. Thanks for making me think.

Love,
Crystal

I don't have much to say about this poem for right now it's made me teary eyed.....You deserve a standing ovation from everyone in passions.  I think this is the most touching tribute to a mother that I've ever read.
