Poetry is liberating
Freedom of expression is a beautiful thing
But when it's songs you want, not poems
It gets that little bit harder,
Because the liberation meets structure.
And I don't do structure very well.

Ahh but that is where you are mistaken my friend. Poetry (good poetry) is about structure and meter. Form and flow, format and syllables. In order for poetry to excel, we need to learn about what makes words flow off the tongue like music. Crafting our art into something beautiful and timeless.

If you'd like to see beautiful flowing work look up anything by Balladeer. He is the master of musically flowing poetry.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...

William Butler Yeats
