They read the poems but don't reply
We sit and wonder out loud "Why?"

They post their own for all to see
Of their three posts, they've started three.

They did not read the Passion's rules
They are missing out, those unfortunate fools.

We read the poems and replied too
Even starting our own great few.

This is one great community
I'm glad to know there's you and me!

This is great! I love the sentiments expressed here, Lakewalker. Thanks to you and Erin for caring enough about the multiple posting problem to post about it here and in the Alley.

Lake, thank you for posting this. You describe this situation well. This is a major problem, especally here in teen. But, like you said, the people who never take time to reply to other people's work are the ones missing out. I hope the people who are doing this (and you know who you are) are reading this, and doing some serious thinking!

Well, is the point now not more clear...

This realistic and well written poem needed to be bumped Three times and the number of people who responded have been just 6 including an esteemed moderator... make that two moderators

goes to show how shallow and selfish some people can be....

I am sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but I also happened to check out the responses to starting posts ratio of quite a number of new poets here and feel really sorry to see that most of the new members do not participate in the forum as they should in a bulletin board. One question bothers me a lot: How are they ever going to get others interested in reading their poetry if they post 3 or may be 5 in a day and disappear... and if others don't read one's poetry, does the board serve any purpose to them?

NO, NOT AT ALL...

Also, I simply cannot accept the fact that forum guidelines are not understood or read. Seems so unreal...

Moreover, it is just a simple matter of moralistic guidelines from one's own heart to one's own self and a principle of behaviour in a form of society and attitude to share what one feels about other person's writing skills.

After all, exchange of words is what made language and communication is what made beings survive and live alongwith another being...

If any of you perpetrators happen to read this and get very very angry at me... so be it... I do not intend that you start reading my poetry or prose or any other of my ramblings as a result of this... All I want you to do is to listen to yourself and decide if this made any sense...

To start with, one is often enthusiastic of his or her own works and a bit tentative to react... but as you can see, most of us here welcome each new member and feel happy to make you feel comfortable here.. it should be your moral obligation to offer your support to the cause of spreading the wings of poetry and be nice at least...

Still nothing has changed.... please heed to your own voice... from deep within your souls...

Thanks for hearing me out...

regards,
Sudhir

Let's not be to judgemental here, specially with the newer ones.  Sometimes, I read the poems but I really have nothing else to say about it, so i don't reply.  It's better than putting something that i don't mean. I'm just glad that they share their poems to us.  We don't know if the other people feel the same way about other poems.  They just might not have anything to say about it.  I know it helps the poet a lot if they get a lot of responses or replies to their poems.  I know it makes me feel better and more inspired.  But let's not point a finger at anyone.  I'm not trying to be rude here, but I've never believed in judging other people.  Who am I to judge that I'm the one who's doing the right thing and everyone else might not be.  I don't have that right.  Let's just put up a nice reminder for everyone to try their best to reply to as many poems as they can, period.

Hope I don't make enemies by posting this.  I'm not trying to be ruse, just trying to be fair to all.

This is a problem that has been brought up before. Last tiem we limited the posts to 2 per day. I guess it worked for a while, then the posts started outnumbering themselves. Thanks for bringing up the subject again, ERIN!!

acire,

I appreciate your views on the subject very much. But does this viewpoint absolve one of reading and going ahead with all the poems. I mean I do not sincerely think that there is no poems here worth any merit.

Agreed, each person has his or her own viewpoints, and is entitled to have it. But then not replying to any poem (read close to none) makes no sense. I mean, come on, are even 4 good poems not posted here in a day? That can't be real...

I am here for 3 months and a half... and not a single day has passed when there have not been at least about 10 poems that touched me in some way or another. Yet there have been many that I might not have answered to at all also...

anyway, my point was not to accuse any one, new comers or otherwise, but to make a point that sharing of ideas and thoughts is what makes a family grow.

I believe in that. Don't you? I think you do too... That's why we are having this discussion in the first place... Thansk for that.

I just think I am going overboard with the discussion... please join in the alley for more talks on this and you could quote me from this thread there, and I will be glad to be part of the discussion... there is already a thread from ERIN in the alley active on the subject...

Thanks again for hearing out,
and my apologies to the moderators and Lakewalker to use this space to bleat...

regards,
sudhir

I didn't expect this to be the subject, I thought maybe a sweet love poem?
But hey, it's true.  There are dependable repliers (like yours truly) and there are people who just post their own.
Good that you brought this to attention, I thought the poem was alright as well.
