I never realized...
`
By Jessica DeMaio

I never realized…
How special that gift I received was,
Until someone's was taken away,
I knew how to cry, to laugh, to smile,
But I didn't know many things I realized today,

The expressions on my face,
The way I walk,
My breathe,
Even my laugh,
My family,
My friends,
I never realized…

I never realized… How precious life truly is…
Until I saw my friends cry,
And hearts break,
For that girl in the hall,
Her smiling face,
Her curly hair,
Are now just a memory,

In a flash,
In a second,
In one moment in time,
Your gift can be taken away,
Hers was…

I never realized mine could be too...

Was the girl you wrote this about a friend of your's...either way, I truly give my compassion towards your struggle.  You won't be seeing me in here all that often, but I'm glad I stopped in tonight and read this.  You have a talent and I'm glad you're not wasting it.  Just be sure to treat your upcoming assorted fanclubs well.

Hey there, this poem was exteremely overwhelming.  I totally enjoyed reading it.  Loss seems to be hard to deal with, especially if it was someone close, but it seems that words are the best way to express your feelings.  The same thing happend to me 2 years ago.  I can only pray that everything goes well for you.  Keep your head up.

I've had friends of mine die so I know what it's like to be going through it.Once they are gone you look at your own life differently and your pem totally showed that.It was a great poem I just wanted to tell you that.Life is very precious and be sure to enjoy it while you still can!

I know how hard it is to understand the loss of someone.  As you perfectly stated in this poem, experiences like this does give us a new look in life.  The question is, what are we to do?  A lot of people do take life or every small thing in life for granted.  Let's just hope they don't go thru the same experience as we have for them to realize the truth.  Thanks for sharing this poem to us

Great poem about loss. I loved it especially the way you regarded both life and death. Definatly a beautiful piece that makes me wonder of the power of death. Good luck and keep on writing! I def wanna read more!
