Let's start with a clump of grass.
Now usually the grass sits still,
nothing happening.
Now lets add a windstorm.
Now the grass moves around, sometimes violently.
Does it move around on its own? No.
It moves in the same direction as the wind, but...
it doesnt fly off, and float around, though.
because the grass is rooted in the ground enough so that it doesnt get carried away.
Like someone who follows in something, but has a grip on reality, so he doesnt get carried away often

Now, we have a fallen leaf. It also just lays there.
Waiting for the next windstorm.
When the wind kicks up, if it's powerful enough,
the leaf flutters away,
to be carried off, and dropped in any place,
be it in the street, or in a yard.
The leaf is always getting carried away.
It is like someone who always is controlled by strong emotions. A very idealistic person, very imaginative.

Now at last there's the tree.
The tree stays still, rigid, and firm.
when the wind kicks up, sure some of the branches move, but usually the tree is still, indomitable.
But there is a problem-
The tree wants to stand where it is.
It is very stubborn, and proud.
The wind wants the tree to move.
Since the tree is too proud to compromise, it stays still, and the wind pushes.
Sometimes the tree wins by keeping its place,
but sometimes the wind wins, pushing the tree over.
It's usually one way or the other.
Either one or the other will win.
The tree represents an imdomitable person,
one who is rarely influenced.
Sometimes that person has trouble getting along in some situations, and....breaks.
very rigid, and firm, indeed.

Now I pose a question to you, the reader....
Out of these three objects I've mentioned...which do you think is the best one to be?
Is is best to go with the crowd, but still maintain a sense of individuality?
Is it best to just live, and pursue emotional freedom, and be yourself?
Or must you be rigid, and unchanging, always wanting to be your own person, and let nothing influence you?

Ill tell you this...MY answer is somewhere in this poem. When you think you've found it...let me know.

Well, no one can say what's is the "best" thing to be...it's really something that you can't control.  You are how you are and that's just about it.  I couldn't really "find" your answer in the poem, but I have a pretty good clue that it was more of a reading between the lines thing than a direct thing.  Something tells me you agree with me in a way.........I really liked this style of peom.  The rythm and rhyme were left out puposely to give the story telling effect and the idea was very creative....keep it up.

HEY!!!  I just figured out what your answer to the poem is...it's so freakin' obvious!!!!  I feel like an idiot.  I can't tell you though, because then I'd be giving it away to the other's....just trust me, I got it!!! (oh yeah, I voted for this)

Welcome to Passions!
This is a magnificant first post. I love how you describe each type of personality. As for me, I don't really know what's the best. There are good and bad things about every personality, and there are a lot of personalitys that are a cross between the ones you describe. I hope to see more of you around here!
