Dreams

All faces turned away from me
Eyes averted, not wanting to see
Little insignificant worm that I am
I am a person, I am a man

If ignorance is truly bliss
Then all the faces show this
That they are blissful in their neglect
Complacent in what they reject

As common as my dreams may be
Thay are the goals I've set for me
The faces turned do not believe
My goals are set there to achieve
The eyes, unseeing, think all is lost
Yet so many have already weighed the cost
A price too high, a cliff too steep
Yet all our dreams lay within reach

Backs to me, stark and cold
But I shout at them, I am bold
I refuse to be supressed
Put all that i am to the test

For if we all were to lose our dreams
Would this world be as empty as it seems
A cold, dark, barren, wasted land
Think the future is in your hands

Thomas

This was a very good poem.  Dreams are what makes us, us.  Keep them coming, and thanks for responding to my poem "Goodnight Kiss".

Within you I lose myself.
Without you I find myself wanting to become lost again.

Your words are so compassionate I don't know what to say! I had to read this poem again! Not because I didn't understand it but I believe that in order to capture the essence of a good poem, one muct go back again to see the truthfulness. Keep posting and I'll keep reading and replying! This is a wonderful poem, my friend. Yes, this world would be a very dark, and sad place filled with ignorant people if it wasn't for dreams and ambition to chase them with.
