You asked why you didn't get a father's day card.
I can't believe your ignorance you stupid fool!
Because of you and only you, my heart is forever scarred.

You see, fathers deserve recognition on father's day.
And you, Everett, are hardly that!
Because you chose her over me I'm the one who's had to pay

Fathers do special things for their kids and show 'em that they care
You still have yet to do that--Hello I'm still waiting!
Are you that blind you can't see the pain I've had to bare?!?!

Even if divorced fathers pick up their children when they're supposed to.
You couldn't even do that because I sat waiting for you!!
Just sitting there like a fool waiting, crying because you knew.

You knew I was coming over I told you that.
You didnt care-you could care less that you hurt me so
You know, you're just like a selfish rat!!

My heart's been broken by you time after time
But I'm done now-you can't hurt me any more.
And now that my life's missing the pain you cause it's sublime!!

So you see, my dear father, my heart's forever scarred.
I'll thank you for that later.
Later, when I send you a father's day card.

The bitterness you wished to convey was conveyed perfectly.  Keep writing from the heart.

I'm so sorry that you don't have a good father. You didn't choose to have a lousy father like this. We don't get a lot of choices in life, but we do get some. You have a choice in this matter, also. You can choose to let the bitterness and anger hurt you worse and anything else could, or you can let go of it. I hope you let go, my friend.

Sorry to hear about your father.  It will only get worse before it gets better.  Sorry to tell you that, but the truth hurts.  Well I love the poem and I hope things work out in the end.

Luv always

I'm sorry about your father. You may come one day, to look upon that day, and laugh.

A quick message to all those who replied, please don't apologize for my father's behavior. He doesn't deserve the excuses! He has put me into a world of hurt and I'm really just tired of it. I still refuse to talk to him now, but I figured out that if I just forgive him within my heart I will find happiness. He has put way too much pain within the constraints of my heart and it will happen no longer. Anyway, thank you all for reading my poem! I feel special! hehe. and all of you are very special to my heart. I wish you all the best in happiness, and even in forgiveness...

I kinda liked the cynical little twist on the end of the poem...it reminds me of my own bitterness in certain areas of my life.  I don't think there is a better way to release the demons than through poetry...good poem

You show so much anger towards your dad.  I've never seen so much anger towards their dad but from myself.  i've forgiven him and moved on, and you should do the same thing.  No matter what, he still is your dad.  Be better than him, and on eway to start is by forgiving him.  Treat him really nice even though he doesn't return the favor.  This way your conscience is clean.  I really love your poems.  Everytime i see your name posting one, i make sure i read it.
