There was a time when I was innocent
There was a time when you really did care
I never questioned your love, I wouldn’t dare
The pain in my eyes you couldn’t see,
I thought it was ok, you didn’t know what you were doing to me
You didn’t know the pain I had to bare
I sat by myself, with a feeling all too rare
There was no one to tell me it would all be fine
And there was no one to listen and just be kind
I was alone and no one could fill the empty space;
The space inside that once held a love so strong,
Now just faded like an old, played out song.
You told me you loved me, you told me that you cared.
And now I see that you only lied, and here I sit, alone and scared.

For those of you who have been here for a while...I know that I posted this in #2 back on the 31st of may, but I want you all to know that I gave my dad this poem and he cried and apologized for what he has done. I htought things would be better now that he realized what he is doing to me...They aren't, his behavior is unchanging so, I guess I just have to get on with my life--without him. Thxs for all your replies~

Hey Jess,  don't convince yourself that he'll never really care.  It's kind of like a situation when kids start getting older and don't pay any attention to their parents.  Eventually, they come around and "grow" out of it.  I believe that one day, your dad will look back on his life and realize he wish he let you be more of a part in it...just wait for his mid-life crisis.  If you feel like *****in' about, you know my number and email.  Luv ya.

ok so those of you who know the story I have an update for you. My dad called yesterday and we talked for a while (of course me in tears the whole time.   lol) and he told me that he truly is sorry for what he has put me through and he hopes that someday, things will be ok with us. He wants to start going and doing things like we used to. well I guess we'll see what happens. We're going out to dinner tonight and I hope he is serious about us working things out. Otherwise that will be the very very very last time that he hurts me because I won't ever be able to forgive him again after he does that. anywho, I guess I'll just hope for the best. Thanks for all your support and I will keep you all informed.   ~*~Jess~*~< !signature-->

No poet's thoughts are e'er unread
But praise for them is seldom said

Great work! I'm glad everything is going better.

Thomas~well, I'm glad you liked it however, I am regretful to report that things aren't going better!! My dad failed to show up at dinner last night, hell, he even failed to call or page to say he was not going to be able to make it. So, little Jessica sat at a restaurant for an hour waiting for his ass to show up and did he? NOPE!   Oh wellers, time to move on now. Thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked it~ Love Always~*~Jessica~*~

Hey there,
Thanks for the post.  I loved this poem.  Just sorry that its about a painful experience.  I hope it gets better, though.  I don't really know my parents, but we can talk about that later.  Email me sometime if you wanna chat.  Talk to you later.

Erin
He did more than that...this last week he landed himself in the hospital and in a life-threatening situation...despite of everything that happened I was going to go see him...he told my aunt that he didn't want me there because "I'm not his daughter." That one hurt...the fact that he almost died...and still he wanted nothing to do with me   thanks for the reply babe.
