It was a normal school day
The sun was shining bright
I remember in every way
What was to happen later that night

I didn't know it at the time
Though my life would never be the same
The blame was said to be mine
Her revenge was to play games

The office worker came in
With a sad look on her face
She put the letter in my hand
What was fixing to happen... I couldn't take

Slowly with confusion
I opened the note with a sigh
What I read had to be an illusion
I histerically began to cry

At the top was my name
And it stated as I read
Things are no longer the same
I am sorry Carissa... Your mother is dead

Then they handed me another note
That was specifically written to me
As I read what was wrote
A suiside note was what I was to see

She told me it was because of me
That things had to end
She was tired of trying to be
My dearest closet friend

Living a life with me
Is something that wouldn't work
And now you have the key
To your own pitty and hurt

I am sorry I couldn't be strong
I am sorry I wasn't perfect
I know I did everything wrong
My whole life with you was a reject

So now you know the truth
And how things were meant to be
I truly didn't love you
And I know you didn't love me

I am sorry for ruining your life
I am sorry for getting in the way
Things will be fixed with this knife
I am sorry is all I have to say

Suddenly I woke from sleep
Tears streaming down my face
The dream I had was deep
I thanked the Lord with grace

I thought to myself
Mom.. I may never know where your at
But I truly love you
And I know you love me too!

I just wanted everyone who reads my poem to understand it the way I wrote it. I just recently moved in with my adoptive parents because my mother is suisidal. When I left... it wasn't on good terms. I was really stressed out because I was afraid I would drive her to committ suiside. I had a dream that I did and during class I decided to put that dream into a poem. And here it is. It never really happened... It is all a dream. Thanks... any comments are appreciated. Carissa

This is extremely powerful and very poignant work, Carissa.  I'm so sorry to hear about your situation and I do sincerely hope things get better soon.  Welcome to Passions, you'll make a lovely addition to our family!

Oh, and by the way, 'suicide' is the correct way to spell it, just so ya know.

I am so sorry that you have been put through this though the poem is very powerful. My mother isn't suicidal but it made me stop and think about the way I treat her sometimes. Good poem and welcome to passions.

Love,
Crystal

This is so powerful, I couldn't stop reading it.
Your situation sounds grim...I'm sorry about your mother. It's good you put this into a poem, it'll help you alot and is a good way to express yourself.
Again, your poem was GREAT and I look forward to reading more of your work...and welcome to Passions!

Wow, I voted for this one, I almost was in tears myself by the end. Very powerful work, and I hope your situation gets better.

Dear Carissa:
I loved your poem. It's exactly how I feel. Only, my suitation is the other way around. I have depression. I was in tears when I finished reading because it reminded so much of our family and how it has fallen apart slowly. Anyways, I hope things do get better for you! Good luck!
