On the desk sits the little blue folder
Its another thing in life thats just a chip on my shoulder
I dread it every morning getting up for school
Being here in the summer just really isn't cool
I think about my friends and how they're home asleep
And down into my chair I slowly begain to seep
I think about what got me here, I did it to myself
If only I'd worked hard enough
I'd be like everyone else
I missed out on those things that really meant the most, like band and contests too.
And being grounded from almost everything, I had nothing left to do.
This is one of life's lessons, I've learned and won't forget.
I promise to work harder next time and acomplish those goals that I've set.

(this was written by my friend Robin, please reply)

I really like this. I've finished my exams today, and for the first time I DON'T CARE ABOUT MY RESULTS.

Anyway, tell your friend to keep trying. Even if she (or is it he, sorry) hates school and doesn't WANT to work, just count the days until the weekend and think '5 days of work then 2 days of fun'. Just keep going...it's hard and tedious but school doesn't last forever.

I hate school as well...but it's lucky it's not compulsory in the UK to attend summer school.
And tell your friend to keep writing, this poem is great!!

That was a really good poem... tell your friend to hang in there and soon it all will be over. I got super close to summer school. But think of it this way. Atleast you have something to do... I get to stay home and sleep in and I usually don't go anywhere or do anything until like 8:30 or 9 pm. So, I get really bored! Keep your head up and ya'll keep writing... mysticalangel

I think we learn much more from Life lessons than book lessons!  The experience of a bad outcome leaves a lasting memory and usually changes behavior.  Good lesson to learn early.
~~nice writing~~

This is a really nice poem, and I only have one little bit of advice for your friend.  I graduated from high school a couple of years ago.  I never really did my homework, and so I did poorly in most of my classes.  Now because I didn't go to college either I have to bust my butt at work when I would really rather be a student.  So my advice is to do well and continue education, because the real world is alot harder than you think, atleast it was for me.  Your friend should also join the forum because he/she has quite a talent with words.
