~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You left one day,
a choice all your own.
It tore our hearts in half,
a hole that could never be sewn.
With your absence,
you took away a piece of me.
You stole away a bit of everyone, unmercifully.
I never knew you well,
which was a mistake I made.
For if I had known you better,
maybe there was something I could have said.
I didn't cry in public,
couldn't mourn outloud.
But when by myself the tears would flow,
when I was away from the crowd.
I never knew you well,
so why does it hurt so much?
It's just I keep on thinking
what could have been,
what almost was, and such.
I see the pain in everyone,
Nobody was left untouched.
The hurt within us all,
is so strong and so much.
I really wish I'd known you  better,
so I could at least have a true memory of you.
If I could only turn back time,
what would I say or do?
It's all over, you're gone,
though it still hasn't sunken in.
I wish you could return,
to complete the life which should have been.
With every waking day,
and each slumbering night,
You'll be on my mind and I'll pray to God,
that we will all be alright.
good poem! i'm sorry you had to lose someone close to you, you express your feelings and your loss very well.
as far as the title goes... i don't know, maybe "i never knew you (well)" or something like that - i'm not too good at titles either
    mr
 "crazy" is just who you are...amplified.
some people draw the outlines in life, i chose to add the color.
Wow Snickers...that was painfully beautiful. I can't think of any other way to describe it.
I know exactly what your talking about...my lab partner in biology died of cancer this past year and I wasn't close to him, but it still hit home, ya know? I guess that's a good sign that he succeeded in his short 16 years of life though. Because honestly, you know you did something right when your death has an impact on everyone you came in cantact with, even if it was only for a brief moment in time. If only we could all live so gloriously...
I hope in writing this poem you've put some closure on your sorrow. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you for replying!  I think I'm gonna with "I Never Knew You Well" for the title, unless I come up with a sudden brainstorm.
Kris, I'm sorry that your lab partner died.  Even when you don't know someone well, it hurts.  I actually went out with one of the ppl who died, but we never got close, never got to get to know eachother.  And know that he's gone I regret it.     It's tough, but thanx for replying!
