*note to the reader-been watching public televison specials on ancient greece and reading the tales of aeschylus one of which involves a cursed family, who have a long history of gory and fascinating habits. The Clytaemnestra mentioned below was sort of an ancient lady macbeth, she murders her husband after making a fool of him and the rest comes from historical events and real people.....yack yack yack...*cough* well anyway.

You in your red Spartan's cloak
dyed to match and hide the blood.
The blood of anyman who falls.
You or he?

General Lysander,the bravest Spartan commander.
You thought that was who you might have been.
Might have been a blood thirsty creature,
You or he?

Conquering Greece after the plague swept through.
When the child was already weak and diseased.
Diseased and abused,
you or he?

The Persians wanted to kill.
And you played both sides
Toying with Greece and joking with Persia.
Who would fall?
It might have been any child,
any creature. But the blood is the same.
Clytaemnestra said you can't stain bronze with dye,
only blood will dye the bronze.
Is it you,is it him,
who sheds it?

~~
Dedicated to the house of Atreus, where fathers feed on the flesh of their cildren.

this was great. i love greek mythology. although, agamemnon wasn't too good himself if i recall... he killed their daughter Iphigenia in order to make the winds blow. anyway, you pay great tribute to this story with your poem. ancient greece is beautiful.

thanks you guys
Jannel- wasn't he awful? The whole family kind of went around in circles, but i thought what Clytaemnestra did was really interesting, manipulating and getting him to tread on the tapestries. The cool thing about the things aeschylus wrote was that they are almost psychological!! Which i find amazing i mean he was born in 525 b.c. i think, but human nature has remained the same over thousands of years...fascinating i could go on and on =P
thanks again everyone!!

I always enjoyed reading about anicent Greecev and Rome, mainly mythology and I really enjoyed the poem, Loved the lines

It might have been any child,
any creature. But the blood is the same.
Clytaemnestra said you can't stain bronze with dye,

It's in your eyes a fire that's wild and glorious
Unhibited, unfinished in everything I do Let the morning rise like our hearts desire" whipping boy
