Ode to Vana

Her childish giggle
and toothless grin
Is all I have left to ponder
on what could have been.
What would she have grown up to be?
A lawyer, a doctor or a poet like me?
What would her eyes
have longed to see?
What would make them
sparkle, glow and gleam
with curious mischievousness
The sparkle we all came to hold so dear.
Godspeed to you, My Neice.
As you arise
beautiful and free
to fly on the back
of an Angel's wing.

In memory of my neice

oh dear, such a wonderful gut wrenching tribute to a beautiful child so obviously loved by you all.  There is nothing I hate more in this life than the death of a child.
It is so unfair....  Yes, it may be God's plan etc, but it sure as hell doesn't make it any easier to live with.
And like you I would wonder forever what kind of person she'd have grown up to be.
My sympathies for you and your family hon.
Beautifully written and heartfelt.  *hugs*

P.S.  If you don't mind me asking ... how did she die?  An illness or accident...??

Isis,
Thank you so much for your heartfelt words!
It brought a smile to my face... Yes, I do agree with you that it is a gut wrenching feeling, but who am I to question the powers that be? I just hope Vana's life next time or where ever she is now (be it heaven) that it will be beautiful.
She was six years old. Her parents (my brother, his wife and Vana) were in an auto accident wednesday night. We had gotten ice and snow, so the roads were slick. A 16 yo boy hit them head on. Luckily he was not hurt. The paramedics were unable to get Vana to breathe on her own, and Thursday morning she was pronounced brain dead. She passed over sometime Thursday afternoon. From what I can gather, she was never in any pain. For that I am thankful.
Thank you again for your warm thoughts!

Blessed be my friend,
Cyndey
