‘Tis the Christmas season,
And I sit here all alone.
No friends drop by to see me,
There’s no ringing of the phone.

There’s no Christmas decorations,
No stockings hung with care.
No yuletide tree adorning,
With bright lights everywhere.

There’s no sound of laughter,
No kids upon my knee.
No brightly wrapped surprises,
Under a Christmas tree.

So I just sit in darkness,
While Christmas songs play low.
I don’t bother to go visit,
For I’ve got no place to go.

Everyone has their families,
And I think it’s kinda rude,
To drop in uninvited,
I’m not one to intrude.

I don’t like to be a bother,
So I just let them be.
And sit alone in darkness,
Singing Merry Christmas to me.

And I wonder how I got here,
What promises did I not keep?
Then I wrap my quilt around me,
And drift off into sleep.

In sleep is where my dreams are,
The ones that all come true.
Where every day is Christmas,
Like all my days with you.

Dreams are where my heart is,
It’s where I want to stay.
It’s where I hold you once again,
And it’s always Christmas day.

I don’t know how I lost you,
Or how we came to part.
I just know that when you left,
You took Christmas from my heart.

So every year at Christmas,
I wish upon a star.
And wish you the best of Christmases,
No matter where you are.

If by chance you read this,
Gaze at that star above,
And know that I’m out here somewhere,
And you’ll always have my love.

And if the world’s turned cold on you,
And you find yourself alone.
I’ll still be here waiting,
Sitting by the phone.

Merry Christmas, Darling…..I’ll always love you.

Wow, this is at once sad and sweet and romantic. If there truly is someone that has you thinking this way, I say CALL HER and wish her a Merry Christmas.
Take care.

*sigh*
I wish someone would write stuff like that to me...
It's so sad and sweet, I hope you're not really as lonely as you've described here... Take Care!

Hardrock... this was beautiful, yet so bittersweet.  Want to share my mistletoe?   No one should be without it on Christmas. Hope yours is wonderful..

Hardrock, this moved me in so many ways.
Firstly, I hate to think of anyone alone and sad at Christmas time.
Secondly pining for that special someone you never stopped loving.
Thirdly the reference of seeing the star and thinking of you etc.
All so sad and romantic and sad...
Beautiful work thanks for sharing it...
*hugs*
