His pain so evident,
No more mortal blows can he bear,
He can't explain it even to himself,
Just feels the pain as his heart tears.

The two deadly D's make no difference,
They merely numb the pain,
For a short while,
Really he should abstain.

Alone in the world,
Will there be a sacrifice today?
What price must he pay?
And nothing left to say.

He hides within his music,
It is safe there,
The mood dictated by others,
Brief glimpses of happiness there.

He misses much in his life,
He has hurt so many around him,
Without meaning to,
Sometimes he is just so grim.

He feels lost, no purpose to his day or life,
He's scared for his health and sanity,
He only wants the little things back,
Things he'd taken for granted and his right you see.

The little things are things that matter,
Going out to dinner,
A moonlit stroll hand in hand,
Then he felt normal, then he was a winner.

He has to face this darkness,
And work through it a day at a time,
And really realise the truth,
He is just at his prime.

He will and can venture forth,
And make new myths and legends,
Make beautiful, joyous beginnings,
And smile as the sadness ends.

But until that day,
As his soul continues to keen,
He must embrace the good in his life,
The love of family and friends.

He will return,
He has the strength and power,
He will triumph,
And Oceans of Love he will discover.
