So many words left unspoken,
So many things left undone,
So many dreams unfulfilled,
Leaving hearts as heavy as stone.

So many times we should've said more,
So many times we shouldn't have shut the door,
So many times there were things we needed to hear,
So much to say, in this our emotional war.

So many times I heard your calling,
And my soul keened to be with you,
Yet foolish old me remained stubborn,
For I felt there was nothing else I could do.

So for that my love I apologise,
We both made wrong decisions,
And a life half lived is no consolation prize,
Love is much more than reason or season.

Forgive us Lord for our foolish pride,
Misguided faith and responsibility,
I know now how deserving we are,
No finer union could there be.

But perhaps we will never get to test the waters,
To see if our love will float or hold true,
Now so many more times we'll pause and think
'If only I could be with you!'.

there's always going to be regret isn't there? I'm learning this. But not getting love that might be fulfilling for the rest of your life, that's got to be the worst regret. Good one, Isis. I enjoyed.

I liked this poem it made me cry a lot esp. the first 8 lines or so they were my favorite.

I think at some point in everybodies life they have done this.You have put it so well too.We all carry regrets in our hearts. Hopefully it doesn't stop us from moving forward. Great poem Suzanne

I believe life is full of regrets that is a normal part of living and loving. But the secret is to deal with it, mend it and move on

Ginners sorry to make you cry hon, but those first 8 lines are the essence of that situation and are my fav in the poem too!!
