I have fought long and hard
For the life I have today
Hitting many dead end roads
Seeing no light on my way
Yet the little things in life
Never meant that much to me
Today I have them all
Still missing something, you see
During my long journey
I forgot to look around
To notice the rainbow colors
Or the friends I have found
To smell the bed of roses
To watch the sky so blue
Passing up my chance for love
Not even noticing you
Yet there you sat watching
Wanting me to look your way
Never making a sound
Passing along the day
Pondering is all I do now
For a new path you have took
Being selfish got me nowhere
As I silently close the book

No person is worth your tears, and the only one that is ...... will never make you cry

DKW,
how sad, it's true though sometimes we don't know what we've got till it's gone. Excellent write.
Be well

Mags...So many missed opportunities for love, for friendship, for good things in life, because we hesitated, procrastinated...All of us have some of these, some have more than others.  You have written it so well here.  Hardrock

Wonderful writting.  Sometimes I forget that I can just kick back and enjoy the wonder of the moment.

Wow!  It seems that tonight(26th of November), all the poetry I've read has touched me in really painful places, lol.  This one hit me hard!  It reminds me of my years in middle school.  While I was there, I thought it was awful.  But now, looking back, I think it was kinda fun.  If wonderful things in life are this fleeting, then what is heaven like? lol

DKW...sometimes in this busy world we don't stop and take the time to "smell the roses" and we miss so much.  Beautifully written.  Thanks for remindng me to stop sometimes.

It's never too late to stop and smell the roses! Take care!

Shoot me now!  When I stop to smell the roses, they are but yellow ones.  They are safe it seems.    Great poetry, yet seemingly misdirected, maybe I'm off course here, and maybe I'm just tired    Miss you!
