HE RUNS
from these arms
stained with imperfections
SCAREY things
that threaten to
engulf & overtake him

HE runs from my smile
pretending what he sees
behind adoring
eyes does not exist
He ponders ghosts &
their shadows as they
cling with painful clarity
to his own soul
Ugliness mirrored
unwittingly by me
Therefore,
He punishes us both,
& runs whenever
I am near...
