In a world away from home there lays a
Dead man within a dark and wat'ry grave.
Down within the depths is where you'll find him,
Lying beside some faceless, nameless mass.
His face a mass of agony and fear
Of some nameless thing which haunts all our dark
Dreams, he will forever lie there as a
Testament to what lives down in the depths.

Hi fractal.
Very interesting. That's what makes the best poems. I could just see the man lying at the bottom of the sea, his arms twisted in an agonizing potion. His eyes open looking at the blackness around him.
Where'd you get the inspiration for this one? I'm interested to know.
Thanks for writing.

Joy

Thank you for finding this one 'interesting', James. lol.

If you must know, Joy, I often find it scary to see familiar things underwater.  I don't know why, but it just sort of gives me a chilly rush of fear, when I see something like a tree under water, much less a dead man.  It doesn't bug me to see people swimming in water, or anything.  In fact, I love canoeing and other things to do with water.  But when I see familiar things that you'd normally see on land, underwater, it sorta scares me.

Anyway, I just thought it would be interesting to express that fear through writing this.

Fractal....for someone who isn't a diver, you captured this perfectly.  And the fear you feel is no less real for those of us who dive...none of us likes to see air-world stuff in a non-air environment, but most especially people.  Hardrock
