Slicing a canyon within your soul
Blackness laughing at death's toll.
Gouging so painfully into your heart
Where it shreds your aspirations apart.
Taken from finest material yet not steel
There are no stitches for your wounds to heal.
Draining your blood without the mess
Carving piece by piece integrity's finess.
Gasping for air though your throat's not cut
The heaviness causes your eyes to shut.
Yet the sharpest pain without a wound
Don't worry my love it will be over soon.
Gashing your mind into such confusion
What once was real now just a sick illusion.
This mental rage like a grinded axe
Since now you've heard all of the facts.
To your knees you beg but life slips away
You try to speak but there's nothing to say.
Thrash after thrash it cuts you deep
No need to pray your usless soul to keep.
Salty taste of blood now befalls your lips
As the lies linger on the sharpened tip.
Crying out for help but to no avail
For you realize now that truth has failed.
Dicing what's left of shattered fantasy
Now becoming the ground meat of this fallacy.
Weakness bestows upon your weary head
A smile once vibrant will soon be dead.
Begging for the pain to please come to an end
Knowing all to well you will be here again.
Seems no matter how many dreams are made
They all fall bloody vicitims to The Misery Blade.

Excellent vivid imagery, and a fine undertone of violent emotion and inevitability. I enjoyed this alot. Thanks for sharing.

OUCH!!!... I've felt this..and you've expressed it so well.
You've outdone yourself, Jeremy.

i haven't really read any of your other pieces, but this was definately an excellent first impression.  i could almost taste the "salty taste of blood" and the weakness.  Great Piece!

I'm glad you all enjoyed this piece.  I've been playing with it for about a week now.  It's the longest I've ever pondered prose.  I've been there too...glad you liked it Wizard
