I glanced around at the sun-filled horizon, as
My mind was filled with extacy.

Wow!  No more dissease.  No more problems!

Standing in the middle of the deck, at the back
Of my house, I could see the distant horizon,
As the sun set on the sea.
It looked so golden!

Everything ahead looked so great!

I went to bed that night, and when I awoke, I went
Outside to view the regular Joy to the World parades.
Endless lines of children hopped and danced, in a coordinated line.
They all had eyes that were a very beautiful blue, and
They all did exactly the same things in the dance.
Above them, fluttering in the breeze,
Was a banner with the name of some big corporation
Written in bold lettering on it.

And finally, after the children had danced past,
A float drove past, once again with the name of
That corporation on it.  Sitting in the middle,
Was a plump, fat man, with a cherry nose.
He giggled and chuckled, and in his eyes
Were dollar signs.

Oh what a wonderful future we had!

have you been reading 1984 again? the scary thing is how true this is all becoming. might i suggest, if you have not already had the pleasure, reading brave new world by aldous huxley, the short story "harrison bergeron" by kurt vonnegut, and checking out soylent green (available as a book or movie.)

anyway, the point of replying was to tell you that this was a wonderful futuristic story, and well told.

If you can feel that staying human is worthwhile, even when it can't have any result whatever, you've beaten them.

tehehe, thanks for the reply.  I have read 1984.  I'd like to read A Brave New World, yes.  I've always felt that the new technologies of genetics will become a massive problem in the near future.
