Tonight a full moon lurks
The sky is screaming clear
A breeze cool blows peaceful
Yet there is still something I fear.
My blood which now slithers
From this battered heart
Torn from your emotional claws
Prepared to fall apart.
Somwhere deep and frightening
I can feel it all again
This blood-stained velvet
From a love which ends.
Recalling a yesterday past
And your words so soft
Now just cast away
To a place time forgot.
Your absence tears at my flesh
Leaving me bitter and sore
Going on without you
An option considered no more.
Headlights vanish far away
Like the memories  you bequeath
Or like that old log in the yard
Never seeing what's underneath.
I gaze up to the heavens
If there is such a place
I thought I had been there
When I first saw your face.
Tonight the moon lurking
Wears an evil scowl
Somewhere in the dark shadows
A desperate cyote howls.
The blood runs free now
From my heart once true
You left without cause
My reward for loving you?

I understand..... and yes I agree here.  Give it time though, everything takes some getting use too.  Great words!!

Tempestuous joy is a just reward for the battered and scarred heart that is released from the fear of the past. Very nice work, Jeremy.

If you can feel that staying human is worthwhile, even when it can't have any result whatever, you've beaten them.

Jeremy... your talent amazes me constantly.
Maybe she is awe struck in the beams of your headlights?  Look towards the sunshine my friend!  Trisha
