MOM

You never had the fortune,
never cared for the fame.
You didn't spend time on appearences,
but you're beautiful just the same.
There's no mother quite like you,
can't ask for anything else.
You got me off to college,
couldn't of done it on my own.
I was awa, but not forgotten.
You always remembered to phone.
You're helping me fulfill my dream,
I'll be a teacher like no other,
because of all you've taught me,
& just for being a great mother.
Your love is like a rubberband,
with age it stretches more,
but the bond is never broken,
although the elastic may be sore.
You stayed strong through the "hate you's",
the "I wish you die" & "go aways",
but everytime I needed you,
you were by my side to stay.
Through all the hurt I caused,
you never tried to blame.
Even though I never meant it,
the words were there, I shame.
So thank you mom for the memories,
& the unconditional love.
When I'm rich I'll take care of you,
I'll never send you away with a shove!

<3
LOVE ELMO

A beautiful tribute to your mom, you should give it to her, if you already haven't. I think she'd love it. And yes, they do put up with all our crap, all those years, unselfishly. And we must take care of them in thier later years, we do owe them our lives. literally.  ron

Like Mr. copycat-i-follow-dopey-around said (chris)...hehehe......wonderful tribute!
I think this was a heartfelt poem and a great read.

Wonderful tribute to your mom!  I wrote one about my dad (who died in late 80's) called "Daddy's Little Angel".  Keep up the good work!
