Ghosts of a love lost.
Haunting the soul.
Scratching branches on misted pane,
Like nails etching into my back.
Rain sweeps across the roof,
Drawing a vision of kisses remembered.
A Wind howls through an open window,
Catching the sheets, they ruffle and billow.
Ghosts long gone, dance with passion upon them.
Our ghosts.
A chilled draft crawls blindly along lonely walls,
Searching.
Walls have ears, they say.,
These walls wait patiently,
For a whisper yet to come.
A candle flickers.
A flash of shadowed forms.
Two embraced in desire’s dance.
Our dance.
Our ghosts.
Tears reappear.
A nightly occurrence.
My tears.
For our ghosts.

Tossing words like wishful coins into the deep well of an open heart. R. fox
