It caught me by surprise
when I looked into your eyes.
I saw something I wasn't prepared to see,
you were looking back at me.
You saw past my features,
you saw past my smile,
you saw past my act of an innocent child.
You saw through me,
now I feel it everyday.
You found the key that kept me from walking away.
You took my heart,
that's when you gained control.
You became the doorway
to the windows of my soul.
Now your promises are empty,
and I rarely meet your eyes.
When I do their tortured
from being buried in your lies.
Your skill of seeing through me
was lost in the past.
Now all you see
is what used to be,
and that's not strong enough to last.
You saw through me,
I remember everyday.
You had the key that kept me from walking away.
But when you broke my heart,
that's when you lost control.
You became the lock to the doorway of my soul.

Holy!!!!!  Now thats a sad poem!    Life does move on my dear friend.  Having a true love is a gift, not a chance!   Keep up your head.... it shall all get better soon.

I'm not sad anymore.  Both of these poems were written a while ago.  Still afraid to trust, but not so down.  Thanks for your comments!!!

That's why after going through this so many times that I always play cautiously now.  It's a shame we have to, but you have to look out for "#1".  Take care!

Well I am glad you no longer feel the pain.  And yes TRUST is a very difficult thing to gain again.
Good luck

The expressiveness of your work has captured me and I'm glad that things are better for you now. As for the trust, well I think Jeremy has some good advice! Take  care!

Thanks for all the comments.  As for me and the trust issue, it's just coming one step at a time.
