I'm tired of being different
I want to be the same
for if I was just maybe
I wouldn't feel this pain

I'm tired of being different
I want to be like you
for if I was just maybe
you'd keep your heart in view

I'm tired of being different
I want to be a copy
for if I was just maybe
life's sea would be less choppy

I'm tired of being different
I want to be like him
for if I was just maybe
you wouldn't have left again

Ah Sven, you write so very well from the heart...

and many of us have been in your shoes, and we have shared your empty arms...

This is an excellent poem...you should be proud of how unique you really are..and be happy that you are not a sheep like so many conformist americans are.  There will be somebody who will appreciate you for who you are, because you are different.  Being the "same" is awfully boring......beth

Oh, I love this so much! I totally can understand your pain... I wish I was a copy of somebody else sometimes, maybe that way I could have had her life too.
Thanks for sharing, it's so beautiful.

Hi Sven ... terrific poem!    ditto Beth    How boring is the ordinary!  Bring on all the unique differnt people in this world!   Even if it does mean a little confusion... and heartache... oh what a much better person it makes!    Take care!

Even though it can be tough sometimes, I think at the end of the day I'd rather be me than someone else.

Sven sometimes I find myself thinking these thoughts when I like a woman and no matter what I do she likes someone else...this other person never seems to have any redeeming qualities and I am so wonderful so I can't see why she would like them and not me...ha...ha...just joking...but am serious also...James

This is a quality piece that I think we can all relate too. Sometimes we all would rather be cattle and chew grass with the mass, that open up our wings and soar in the immense cold sky in solitude, but where we can see the world for what it is. Thank you for this wonderful piece.

Yes Sven we can all relate!!  But I don't think there is anything wrong with being different, it IS nice to be the individual that you are - you!!  Don't change... I know where you are coming from but believe me the faults don't lie within you hon....  Empaths have a bigger load to bear....  *understanding hugs*

Isis, I know that it's not me. . . just seems like it sometimes. . . Thanks hon, I knew you would understand. . .and I know that we have a bigger load to bear. . .just glad to have someone to share it with. . .

It's an excellent piece of art my friend

I prefer to consider people as unique rather then different and i wrote a poem about it (unique) quite sometime back, you should have a look at it
It's better to embrace the uniqueness and let people accept you as you are rather then a mirage ...

*hugs*

No you wouldn't won't to be me.
Locked in this world of fear,
feeling safe inside my four walls.
You have such an ability to speak
in words that I envy.

Oh how I relate. The eternal question: "What do I do that is so wrong?"

Excellent work Sven!

CrEaTuRe, thank you. . . sometimes though, I think that I'm too unique for my own good!

kitkat, thanks my friend. . . maybe you're right. . . you made me smile

Isis, I know. . . and for that, I will always be thankful. . . we'll get to talk soon again my friend. . .

inot2B, we always want to be someone else, thinking that they've got it easier of better than us. . . but if you come out of the walls, you might see that we've been there too. . . thank you my friend. . .

Jonas, you have hit it right on the head my friend. . . what do I do that is so wrong?  Perhaps, we'll never know. . . thanks. . .
