Echoes of Despair

There are no tears.  The source has long been dry;
And arid grown the heart that grieved.  No high
Emotions sweep the ruthless wall whose height
Stands topless, and no dreams in soaring flight
Now scale its bounds.  Apathy, impotent, flaunts
A smiling mask to hide the ghost that haunts
Its hopeless eyes; and cavalcades of prayer
Are soundless echoes now of past despair.
There are no hopes.  Incentive lies so dead
Beneath the mound that caustic Time has spread
With ashes; and Immortality lays no claim
That soulless things arise to live again?

Hi Rex,
I am sorry to see this as your last post.(But I have the book, so I will not mind as much) This is one of your poems that I feel very intensely. Take care.

This cannot be or maybe it can
how could poetry leave this great man
the soul of a poet is ever true
one day your courage will come shining through
and you will find like sunshine after rain
your poet voice roars and you'll write again.

Thank you all very much for your kind words and support.  You know how much I appreciate it.  As you know by now, none of my poetry has been spontaneous....it has all come from my book.  I do not write poetry anymore, so what's out there is all there is ever going to be.  I have posted around 65 out of the 170 in the book, and that's probably enough.  I will keep popping in and out of Passions to see what's going on and read some of the great poetry out there. I've had a great time and Passions is a wonderful site. Love, health and happiness to you all.

Best Regards,

Rex

Rex...where was I when you did this "Last Post"?...I just cannot accept that.  Like CatalinaMoon I have your book (Songs of Sorrow from Amazon.com...an unabashed plug), but I will not concede that you have no more poetry within you.  Reach down within you, down into the depths of your soul, one last time and "tell me it ain't so".  Bad poetry from you is still better than the best from me...I beseech you, share what you have with us.  (You wouldn't want me to start a beg-a-thon would you?)  Hardrock

Rex,

I am relatively new to this site.. but, I have so enjoyed reading your work (whether published first in a book or not). I do not have the book, yet.. but have every intention of obtaining it. For now, this is the only place I can come to experience the talent that you have. I will join that beg-a-thon and request that when you do stop by.. please share some more. You'll be sorely missed.

I still miss your "blue" replies, your "golden" poetry and most of all you in all the colors of the rainbow.

Be well
