This poem is based on a story I wrote about a city called Utopia, which was built by the survivors of a nuclear war.  In the city, the outside world was referred to by the government as the "Land of Death".  But then somebody left the walls by mistake and found it to be quite different.  So he got together with a bunch of people who also wanted to know what was outside the city, and they left.  This is probably what they saw upon reaching their destination.

Trees live everywhere,
Flowers bloom on the past.

Blue skies hover, where
Once they were dark.

Where once a president stood,
Now there stands a tree.

Where a fatal decision was made,
Now there climbs a grape vine.

It is time to rebuild.

No longer is this a "Land of Death",
But a Land of Life.

i thought this was very interesting. The title caught my eye, the description made me want to read more, and the poem itself satisfied me. I liked it a lot.

Thanks guys, for the compliments.  I liked your take on this one, jmlee.

I've been trying to actually put the story this poem is based on onto the prose forum, but it seems it was a little too long.  I'm gonna have to cut it into parts sometime...
