Okay, some of you are use to my sappy "whoa is me" type prose.  Here's a change of pace for you.  Advice, if you will.

Don't forget the first time you make eye contact,
The glistening, the anticipation, the built-up emotion.

Don't ever forget that first embrace,
The tightness, the meaning, the release.

Don't forget that smell of each other,
So alluring, assuring, comforting.

Don't EVER forget that first kiss,
How you've imagined it for so long, the intensity, the passion, and it's okay to cry at this time.

Don't misplace that smile in your mind,
Always remember it, never let it stray too far.

Don't forget the deep conversations,
Your hopes shared, dreams, inspirations, the "who's and what's".

Don't ever leave behind the promises you made,
Keep the future bright, it's hard to work, but it will be worth it.

Don't feel weak for crying when it comes time to say goodbye.
Cry hysterically if you have to, embrace, kiss, grasp.

Don't let others tell you how you should feel,
Only you know what your heart says.  Listen to it, go for it, make it happen.

Don't forget that it's okay to cry if you miss each other, while looking back at pictures, notes, times shared.

Don't forget caresses in the night, words said, the feel of each other's skin.

Don't leave behind the taste that you have of each other.
Cherish every moment that you had.

Don't take these words I say lightly.
Because you never know when you will experience them again.

like I said, maybe not the best prose, but someone who's traveled a hard road.

You're so right... every minut shared by two people in love is precious, you've put it so well
"Don't ever forget that first embrace,

Don't forget that smell of each other,

Don't misplace that smile in your mind,
Always remember it, never let it stray too far."
Beautiful wise words, I'll remember
Take Care!

Oh Jeremy, this is so true!!!    And so many people are scared to "express" a lot of this...  perhaps if they didn't things would be a lot better.  Terrific poem!
